Building Community in Trying Times

A Free Public Conversation on Belonging, Connection, and Hope in the Monadnock Region
Saturday, November 22, 2025 | 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM | Keene Public Library, Heberton Hall
Keene, NH — In a world where so many feel divided, lonely, or disconnected, how do we
begin to rebuild a sense of belonging—at school, at work, and in our neighborhoods?
The Monadnock Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging (MDEIB) Coalition invites the
community to a free, interactive event on Saturday, November 22 from 10:00 AM to 12:00
PM at the Keene Public Library to explore that question together.

Titled “Building Community in Trying Times,” this two-hour workshop will feature a lively mix
of local stories, small-group conversations, and hands-on activities designed to help
participants strengthen connection and trust across differences.

“People are craving real community,” said Gina Burke, Executive Director of MDEIB. “We
want to create a space where everyone—students, business leaders, parents, and
neighbors—can learn from what’s working and leave inspired to take small, meaningful
actions in their own circles.”

The event will open with a short panel featuring examples of how belonging is being built
locally—at a school, in a workplace, and in a neighborhood—followed by breakout
discussions and creative reflection activities. Participants will leave with new ideas,
connections, and a renewed sense of what’s possible when we show up for one another.
The event is free and open to all, and light refreshments will be provided. We hope you and
your neighbors will join us!

Pre-registration is encouraged at www.mdeib.org/events.
