Pronouns Matter

Name badge with pronoun examples

Pronouns are more than words — they’re a reflection of who we are. Using someone’s correct pronouns is one of the simplest and most powerful ways to show respect, build trust, and create belonging.

When we share our own pronouns and use others’ correctly, we send a clear message:
🗣️ I see you.
🤝 I respect you.
🏳️‍🌈 You belong here.

Getting someone’s pronouns wrong isn’t just a small mistake — it can make people feel unseen or unsafe. Getting them right helps build communities rooted in dignity and care.

If you’re not sure, it’s okay to ask politely or to listen first. We’re all learning, and small efforts make a big difference.

I was at a conference this past week and along with the name badges they had pronoun stickers to add if attendees wanted. Not everyone did but it reminded me that this small gesture meant the world to some of the guests.
